Proverbs 31

Proverbs 31:6–9 (ESV)

Give strong drink to the one who is perishing,
and wine to those in bitter distress;
let them drink and forget their poverty
and remember their misery no more.
Open your mouth for the mute,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
Open your mouth, judge righteously,
defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Here is good advise, it seems.  Help those in miserly, forget it with wine and drink, but also go help those who can accept your help, the mute, the detitute, the poor and the needy.

Proverbs 31:11 (ESV)

11  The heart of her husband trusts in her,
and he will have no lack of gain.

In this Proverb, about half of it is dedicated to woman and this is what it said about her husband.

Proverbs 31:15 (ESV)

15  She rises while it is yet night
and provides food for her household
and portions for her maidens.

I know a woman like this, not many of them I have met, but I am honored to know her.

Proverbs 31:17 (ESV)

17  She dresses herself with strength
and makes her arms strong.

Proverbs 31:23 (ESV)

23  Her husband is known in the gates
when he sits among the elders of the land.

The husband could not be a slacker and her be the worker!  Sounds like a good hard working couple, like we all should be.

Proverbs 31:26–29 (ESV)

26  She opens her mouth with wisdom,
and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
27  She looks well to the ways of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28  Her children rise up and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29  “Many women have done excellently,
but you surpass them all.”

I liked these verses because it stated that even though she was a hard worer, she still wore love on her sleeve and her children could feel this, thus they rose and called her blessed.  And her husband, who he knows can do the chores, but not with the love, will say: “. . .you surpass them all.”

Proverbs 31:30 (ESV)

30  Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

It’s true, one cannot have a relationship with a wife for life unless first she has one with our creator and fears him, our Lord!
